Scientists Sign Declaration That Animals Have Conscious Awareness.

An international group of prominent scientists has signed The Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness in which they are proclaiming their support for the idea that animals are conscious and aware to the degree that humans are — a list of animals that includes all mammals, birds, and even the octopus. But will this make us stop treating these animals in totally inhumane ways?

While it might not sound like much for scientists to declare that many nonhuman animals possess conscious states, it’s the open acknowledgement that’s the big news here. The body of scientific evidence is increasingly showing that most animals are conscious in the same way that we are, and it’s no longer something we can ignore.

What’s also very interesting about the declaration is the group’s acknowledgement that consciousness can emerge in those animals that are very much unlike humans, including those that evolved along different evolutionary tracks, namely birds and some cephalopods.

“The absence of a neocortex does not appear to preclude an organism from experiencing affective states,” they write, “Convergent evidence indicates that non-human animals have the neuroanatomical, neurochemical, and neurophysiological substrates of conscious states along with the capacity to exhibit intentional behaviors.”

Throw Away the Box! – Pause

From let’s start a belgian revolution:

Some of Ralphie’s non-unique thoughts:

Think for yourself!

Refuse to be manipulated.
Do not follow anyone blindly, least of all me.
Rethink absolutely everything.

Go to that place at the very center of your being, where a bell rings each time you hear a timeless truth!
Step in and out of Zen: Is this dream reality or this reality a dream?
When your spirit is wide awake, you spread waves that touch the rest of mankind, for we are one.

Quantum Awakening.

Beautifully written from Quantum Awakening:

We are all in the birthing of a new consciousness. The shift has happened. The mind is expanding into a new awareness of our unity and oneness. In Reality is the equality in identity. We are waking up to the awareness of our true Self. These are exciting, intense times. It is an exploration into the unknown. Diving so deep within the consciousness beyond good and bad into the divinity that exists within us all. It is a permanent state of Mind that awaits your homecoming.
Everything must be questioned. Through non-judgement the mind is opened like a flower, basking in wonder, not labeling or explaining. It just abides in stillness and is totally present. You get so high out of the 3rd dimension that you see that the only thing to do is to observe. In the pure Observation there is a let go, no need to explain or complain about what is on the screen of images.
It is the I AM of existence. Before Abraham was, I AM.
This is the miraculous awakening that is inevitable. You are dreaming a dream of illusion, unconscious thoughts just arising into a mirage of visual perception. You give everything the meaning that it has to you. I see an apple, you see an orange. All interpretation is judgement. A validation of self concept is maintained through the judging. The self-image always needs a defense. who is right and who is wrong and who cares.
Open the mind to anything and Everything and question everything. Through the questioning the natural opening occurs. The mind opens to wisdom and knowledge from the most High of High. To be sourced, to be done through is an exhilarating Living Experience that we long for. To step back and let Him lead the way, is a living experience to those who trust in the Divine Creator. It is not I that doeth these things, but my Father in Heaven, the Direct Experience.
Put the Kingdom of Heaven first and all things will be added unto thee. Oh the gift to know, that I do not know. Becoming like a child forever in the wonder and glee of the unknown. Love needs no defense, It just IS. This purity and innocence of Awareness radiates through out the Universe and extends forever and ever. The continual ever-expanding, blooming of the flower of Truth.
Wake up, my sweet, you are dreaming a dream of illusion. Be reborn everyday, hold onto to nothing, you are completely safe. Welcome home to a life ever new, fresh and clear of the past. Forgive Everything and you are free. Forgive Everything and you will open the door to a whole new fresh, awareness, be reborn today and everyday, forever in the Kingdom do I abide, along with you!

Are You Breathing? – Info.

After the storm of likes Ralphie’s Portal got for the superb picture “Are you breathing?” that I found on, I became curious as to who the artist might be. As it happens it comes from a mysterious Swiss think tank, called “Imaginary Foundation“. They decided to broadcast their ideas, using T-shirts, which is a rather unusual approach. Here is another example, called Brainforest:

Here is some information from the company’s about page:

The Imaginary Foundation is a think tank from Switzerland that does experimental research on new ways of thinking and the power of the imagination. They hold dear a belief in human potential and seek progress in all directions. The small clandestine team is headed up by the mysterious “Director,” a 70-something über-intellectual whose father founded the Dadaist movement. Avoiding direct publicity, the team has sought clothing as an unlikely vehicle for bringing their ideas beyond the academic realm and into popular culture.

In his vision for the Imaginary Foundation, the Director knew that the human mind has more than one mode, that indeed it has an “ecology” of being. He knew that imagination, intuition, inspiration are basic to psyche… A philosophy of research began to form: imagination as fundamental to all learning; artistic making as a model of integrating vision, materials, structure, and imagery.

“What makes true vision is the poetry of life and the richness of nature”

A Soul Peach Drops.

Elven Forest Lily Pond

The Soul Tree is budding.
Dormant consciousness springs,
potent sentient beings blossom,
from branches feeding kindness,
to hungry forming souls,
each holding the potential
to fulfill great destinies.

Guarded by the Elven-light,
infusing each with strength
of will, kind heart and fortitude
against all opposing winds.

Planted in the sacred soil
of the Mother of us all,
the Nurturer stands eternal
to grow her fruit of spirit folk,
to fill awaiting vessels.

A spark ignites, a soul peach drops,
exactly where it should,
following its Kismet strand
within the Matrix-of-All-Making.

Mutant Message Down Under.

Aboriginal Dance

I went on a journey through a deep dream: down underneath the meaning of even the most trivial of things shines an inner beauty that truly gives sense to life. A forgotten message for most of us, luckily remembered by a select ancient few. Marlo Morgan  went walkabout with them, this group of Aboriginals, who have a message for all us mutants, who have strayed from the path of connectivity with the universe.

Through Marlo’s writings shines an intrinsic humanity that is humbling an awe-inspiring. ‘Mutant Message Down Under’ is truly worth the read.

The Reality of Magic.

Tree buddha

We are all living a lie. The truth of the matter is upside down. What we have been led to believe is the truth is a blatant lie. It is time to expose the reality of magic. You may think that I am joking. If at the end of this article you still think so, so be it, but I am  in earnest. I shall give you a couple of examples and leave it up to you to decide what is what.

Every different kind of psychology will tell you that at the core of every human being there is a diamond that has been corrupted and smudged, if not completely hidden, by the limitations forced upon us by our society. When a child is very young, it sees every aspect of life as a miracle, but after it has been indoctrinated to disbelieve the wonder of its own eyes, the glamour fades into insignificance. Which is a crying shame, for that glamour, that way of looking at this wonderful world of ours is actually the whole truth of it.

Let us take an instance which most of us can relate to, i.e. the fact of falling in love. When you fall in love, you see that special person in his or her totality. Not the mere physical aspect, but to the core, including the soul and the spirit. You see the true potential of him or her.  Afterwards, through routine, etcetera you ´think´that this was just a dream, but actually the opposite is true. It is merely you that have fallen out of sync with the reality of that person. All you have to do to go back to that state of perception is to fall in love with them all over again.

Let us try a different example that is not interrelational. Look at a sunset. We all know the specifics of the matter. Earth turns around the Sun and so on and so forth, but if we are in sync with nature, we can experience the true miracle of each sunrise in all of its splendour. If however we are feeling out of sorts and no longer in sync, we just see a yellow blob in the sky, which is a pity.

I shall now take one of my favourite examples, which is that of a tree. When one looks at a tree, one can see many things. One might see just a lump of wood or one might see a living magical being that transforms carbide monoxide into oxygen and allows us to breathe. We could see the tree in all its magnificence and imagine the roots which are as extended as that which we see above ground.

But this is not all, our brain has been wired in such a fashion that we can only see matter in its limited form. We do not see the atoms and the swirling electrons that surround it, making the tree into a virtual universe in itself. The fact of the ´matter´is that everything which exists is alive on a higher or lower frequency in that everything is pure energy, but our brain does not allow us to see it.

I shall leave you with the notice that we can all of us truly shine and we can all of us truly notice the others shining, if we only get rid of our blinkers and shackles, forced upon us by those who would have us live a lie. More to follow.

The Bubble That Was Me…

A bubble.

A bubble. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The bubble-that-was-me burst,
each particle of me carried off
by another sentient being, but…
with my consciousness intact.

Now I live in many spaces,
and on as many planes,
living countless lives at once,
feeling all the love of each.

Dreaming all their dreams,
but remembering mine own.
Wondering if this were permanent,
but absolutely unafraid, in awe…

An unexpected rebirth with a twist,
a web zinging with reverberations
of a myriad new encounters,
with countless others just like me.

When the bubble at last reforms,
I am left as in a golden daze,
the memories slowly fading,
here again, all alone, but found!

An Exercise in Empathy.

The many portraits by Abbott originate from the wish of Horatio Nelson’s friend William Locker, Lieutenant-Governor of Greenwich Hospital. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Nathalie is thinking to herself that this party might not be a total waste of time, after all. She’s just spotted the dashing Jonathan at the other side of the room, but he’s being cornered by some old biddy, who will have her say to him, no matter what. You know the type! She looks like one of those formidable douairieres in full regalia, straight out of an Oscar Wilde play.

Or she could be compared to an old but still fearsome battleship, sailing through the battle of Trafalgar, blissfully unaware of all the commotion around her, after just having drunk Lord Nelson under the table and feeling none the worse for it. Nathalie is a woman of good upbringing and with a sensitive nature. Much as she would like it, her sense of politeness as yet prevents her from rescuing her future beau from the clutches of the old dragon. Jonathan is of a similar disposition and this prevents him in turn from telling the old woman to shut up and leave him alone. And Aunt Zelda is being ruled by her inner demons and is pretty much on autopilot.

I think that so far everyone can identify with this scenario from having seen it in a movie, read it in a book or even from having experienced it in real life. How things are developing between the two youngsters is pretty much obvious. Nathalie can judge from Jonathan’s body language, that he feels uncomfortable at this stage. He himself, out of inbred respect for his elders, does not want to show the old dear how he feels, but is unable to prevent himself from doing so. That leaves Aunt Zelda: how is she feeling and what could she be thinking? Let me point out, at this stage, that I call her aunt because it seemed appropriate to do so, but she is not in any way, shape or form related to either of the others.

This lady is feeling a pervasive sense of despair for acting the way she does and secondly for what causes her to do this in the first place, which also adds a sense of impotent rage. You see, the only way can can get anyone to acknowledge her these days, is by brute force, for if she doesn’t, then people tend to ignore her altogether. This was not always the case, but she knows that she is showing the wear and tear, inflicted upon her by her main enemy in life, which is time!

She is telling herself: “I hate to do this. I can tell that this young man is obviously uncomfortable at being accosted by me in this manner, but what to do, how to break the vicious (in both senses of the word) circle? For although I must admit that I am starting to show my somewhat advanced years, I still have the soul of a young woman, one that needs to be appreciated and even loved! Why can’t people just come up to me and have a chat, without me having to resort to this?” Just then, a light went on in the darkest recesses of her mind. This was provoked by a thought that startles her, frightens her even. What!!? Just spit out the truth!!???” A booming silence engulfs her from all fronts. “Surely you jest, Marie-Antoinette? (which is her real name, but kept secret). Well, what have I got to lose? It can’t get any worse than this!

“Jonathan, I can tell that you’d rather be anywhere else but here! Please excuse this foolish old woman. All I really want is to have a nice and cosy chat with someone, but everybody seems to be avoiding me. I do apologise! Now, run along and go and rescue that damsel in distress across the room!” This confession startles Jonathan out of his reverie for the lovely Nathalie.

For the first time, he really looks Aunt Zelda in the eyes and what does he see there: intelligence, wit, compassion even and a plainly human need for a bit of companionship. He tells himself that Nathalie will understand and asks auntie is she would fancy a cup of tea?

She answers: “Tea? What a novel idea! I’d be delighted. You know, you might not be as shallow, as I thought to begin with, young man!”, and takes him by the arm. He counters: “You’re not as fearsome as you let on, old woman!” — “Watch it with the “old” bit, you young whippersnapper!” They both laugh and head for the kitchen.

Nathalie has followed the proceedings and comes over and asks if she can join them? Auntie says: “Why of course, my dear! Why don’t you sit next to this remarkable young lad. I am sure he won’t mind!” And she winks.

Right at this moment, a gentleman of around Aunt Zelda’s age comes over and asks her is she would care to dance? Off they go to dance and they start murmuring to each other. After a while, the murmurs grow sweeter in tone. And the rest in NONE of our business!!! End of the Exercise in Empathy.

Did you notice that once the door to humanity was opened, everybody seemed to recognise it immediately? Do you still have the same opinion of these three protagonists as you did at the start of this story? Because they’re still exactly the same people! So what has changed? You see: a dragon is only a dragon if you let it. Once you allow it to have feelings, you need not fear it anymore! Toodeloo gang, love you all to bits!

Lifting the Veil of Illusion

Quantum-atom (Photo credit: Wikipedia) Looks like a boob to me!

From Unlocking the Science of Spirit.

When we see a situation or a thing, what is it that we see?  A thing is itself, of course, some philosophers would say.  Yet, what we see is what we interpret through our eyes, and what we experience is a function of mental cognition and the operation of our senses.  Using the example of accepting the physical world only, we can show that what one sees is not necessarily an objective physical truth:  think about color blindness or dyslexia.  Our nerves sense stimuli from that which they are designed to sense, and they send a signal through the body for the brain to interpret and then enter into consciousness.  We only know that something is true if we are conscious of what it is that we are perceiving.  So, what about the amputee of a leg that feels their limb and yet has none?  You may point out that these are extreme examples, but they are not.

The entire experience of our physical life, among other things, is based upon the animation of atoms, elements, plants, animals and the vessel we call our body.  We say animation, because quantum physics has shown that everything that exists in the physical reality has been shown to be a unified field of oscillating waves.  Whether alive, or inanimate, everything is in constant movement.  Behind all movement is force, or life force.  The primal essence that makes a being alive physically is different than that of an atom, but life its very self is dependent on the atom being in motion.  Simply, there is no such thing as stillness in the physical realm of existence.

What we see is not what we get.  We cannot see, with our naked eyes, inside an atom, or a single cell protozoan.  There is an entire universe in every element or form of life and its respective subcomponents.  Limiting reality to the physical senses and to a logical interpretation of the seen is wholly inadequate from which to judge or innovate in the world we live.  Semiconductors, optical science, radio waves, nano-technology, bio-technology, chemistry, biology and many other fields are based on knowledge of the unseen.

The Modern Da Vinci’s 5 Rules of Success.

From the HighExistence site:

Walter Russell is the 20th century Renaissance man you’ve probably never heard of.

When I say Renaissance man, I mean it. Here’s a short summary of his vast accomplishments:

  • Accomplished philosopher, musician, composer, painter and sculptor. He worked with many famous subjects such as President Roosevelt and Thomas Edison
  • Without every studying architecture, he designed and built over $20 million worth of buildings around New York City, including the renowned Hotel des Artistes
  • Predicted the existence of Neptunium and Plutonium in 1926 (well before the invention of the atomic bomb), saying if they were ever discovered, the pressures of this planet would not be enough to hold them together
  • Founded and lectured at the University of Science and Philosophy
  • A champion figure skater, Russell even won competitions at age 69 against competitors in their 20′s

In his biography, The Man Who Tapped The Secrets Of The Universe, Russell shares the 5 rules that allowed him to accomplish so much. Each rule builds on those prior, culminating in the ultimate recipe for genius.

Connecting the science of mind, brain, and spirit with perspectives from the Institute of Noetic Sciences..

From Wikipedia, about Noetic theory:

In traditional philosophy, noëtics (from the Greek noētikos “mental” from noein “to perceive with the mind” and nous “mind, understanding, intellect“) is a branch of metaphysical philosophy concerned with the study of mind and intellect. Noetic doctrines include the doctrine of the agent/patient intellect (Aristotle, Averroes)[1] and the doctrine of the Divine Intellect (Plotinus).[2]

More recently the term “noetics” has been employed by several authors who write about consciousness, spirituality and cosmology

I choose to believe, that the universe is infinite, until something convinces me of that it is not so. My universe is infinite for the (to me) very good reason, that I choose to refute the concept of ´nothingness´. If you were to try to create a space, where there is nothing, the enormity of the forces needed to try and achieve this, would in itself negate it and render it futile. For the single most profound reason, that energy exists everywhere, whether it be seen and can, at this stage, be measured or not. Continue reading

The Primordial Elements…

The Earth flag is not an official flag, since ...

Image via Wikipedia

The four elements, in conjunction, are necessary to give and sustain life. Every living being has all four present within itself, but one of them will always be the dominant one. The following is a summary of some of  the effects of the dominant ones on us humans.

Suggestion: Should you realise that you are hampered by an over-dominant element, foster its opposite, which also dwells within you.

1. The Original Fire(the Germ!) which is the spark that brings the idea into being(abstract).

Qualities: transforming and demanding.

Makes for inventive and passionate people who could be pioneers and leaders. If you want change, these are the ones to contact!

*The Phoenix has no fear, for it knows it shall be reborn!!!*

2. The Creating Wind(Life-giver) which breathes life into the idea(spirit).

Qualities: transporting and divine.

Makes for meticulous but fickle people who could be great thinkers and teachers. If you can not find the solution to a problem, ask them for help!

*Never fear, the wizard is here!*

3. The Moulding Earth(the Forge) which gives shape to the idea(form).

Qualities: Attracting and containing.

Makes for evaluating and clear-thinking people, who could be designers and managers. If you are looking for someone to hold things together, look no further!

*Your inner strength will see you through!*

4. The Mothering Water(the Womb) which nurtures the being to adulthood(evolution).

Qualities: Nurturing and adapting.

Makes for empathic but enigmatic people, who could be artists or care-givers. If you want a shoulder to cry on, find them!

*Water will ALWAYS find a way!*

What is Time?

Illusions (Bach novel)

Illusions (Bach novel) (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Time is the key, I think. If we could only understand the true nature of time, there wouldn´t be many secrets left. It´s just an intuition. But my brain feels like it´s swimming in molasses. I may find the answer, but it will probably take time. Richard Bach said: “If you argue for your limitations, then for sure, they´re yours!”

But maybe my limitations are mother nature´s way of safeguarding me from making even more monumental mistakes. Let´s say I could move mountains, just by thinking it. Where would I put them? I wouldn´t want to squash anything. I suppose I could suspend them in mid-air, but then the birds would fly into them. No, it´s better to leave the mountains where they are. They must be there for a purpose.

I was also thinking about myself, as an example. I read somewhere, that I am made up of several parts, like everyone else. I forget how many. There´s my body, my aura, my soul and some more bits and pieces. What if all these separate parts were part of different streams of time?

For example, my lifetime is but a moment in the time frame of my soul. With practice, I could probably move from one plane of time to the next. But how? Creative visualisation might be the answer.

Obstacles and problems is what life is all about. Without them, where would you be? It´s the road that matters, not the goal. Once you´ve conquered one goal, then what? You immediately need a new one. I wouldn´t even want to imagine knowing everything. What to do then, where to go? NO, I need my limitations. They keep me sane or is it zany? Haha!
